My Music Magazine
Here is the final result of the front cover of my music magazine. I enhanced the size of the logo, making it cover the top. This was to make it stand out more and so people would know who owns this magazine. I added the price of the magazine on the top left hand corner so that people would see it first, alerting them of the price. I also placed the bar code in the bottom right hand corner because it doesn't cover up anything important and isn't very noticeable.
The main story headline is placed in the very centre of the magazine, I also used the same colours of the logo for the main story, to help remind the reader who owns this. The other main stories I have place around the cover, all different sizes and different font styles, showing which story is more important.
Here is the result of my contents page. I added another column and added more images to match the three story's in the second column. I made the numbers of the pages in the middle jump from high and lower numbers, mainly to make the reader think why its like that.
Here is the final result of my double page spread. From the last post, I added two more columns on the left hand side of more of the story. I also added an image of a guy named Zack, as he is mentioned in the story. His name is placed just above him to help readers know and understand who he is.
On the right hand side, I added three columns more of the story. I also added an image of two girls Jane and Danni who are mention. Their names are placed beside them to help the reader know who they are. I also decided not to use green for some of the text, as when I printed a small version of it, it didn't look that good. So i decided to make all of the text white.
I once again kept the colours matching the logo in order to remind the reader who owns the magazine. I also done the headline in yellow with a green background, this was to make it stand out so people know the title of the story and who it about. I made the background dark mainly to make it seem odd and different compared to the front page and contents. This is so that the reader would remember the main story better, as its different.

After having created my front cover, I then began to work on the Contents page of the magazine. Before I started, I looked at how other magazine contents were organised. With this help, I noticed that some of them had columns, page numbers and the title of what was on the page, as well with a few images.
As I created the content page, I decided to use and image for the background. After playing about with the image, I learnt how to fade the image using the contrast tool, as well as the vibrant tool. I then created the column with the shapes tool and added the text, along with a few other images I had taken for ideas of the front cover.
For this task, I went out and took a few photo's of my own of students. Having taken 6 photo's I decided to use one and with the help of photo shop, I was able to learn how to change the lighting of the image that I used. I also learnt how to add shapes onto the image as seen in the bottom right hand corner of the magazine cover, to make a certain piece of information stand out and look appealing. I also used different font styles for each heading for the articles within the magazine, to help grab the readers interest. I also coloured the writing as the same colours as the books the person on the cover is holding.
Using paint, I was able to create the basic frame of a front cover for a school/ collage magazine.
All I needed to do was find an image of a student, and then add the titles of the stories/ articles that will go in the magazine. When this was done, I had to then plan to make an actual front cover of a school/ collage magazine.

Here is what I have accomplish so far of making my double page spread.
I darkened the background photo's of a club, this was to enhance the colours used. I made the image of the singer have rough edges; this was to give a more rock effect.
I placed the magazines logo's on the bottom right and top left of the double page. This was so that the readers would see the logo and remind them of what company owns this magazine. I also kept the colours on the double spread to link with the company logo. This also was to help remind people of who owns the magazine.

Here is what I have achieved so far on my Contents page. I once again placed the magazine name in the top left so the readers will see it first. The Contents title is next to the name so people know what page there on; the date is also at the top.
I placed the page numbers in white over a red back colour; this was so that they stand out and lets the readers know that these are page numbers.
I have also faded a photo of a club in the background, this was to give the page a better look.
I used another photo of the lead singing in Exterminus to give the readers an idea of what to expect on page 20 of the magazine.
This is what I have done so far, working with photo's I took, to make my front cover of my rock music magazine. Like I mentioned in my pitch, my main image is a girl who is the lead singer of Exterminus. Having looked at many types of rock magazines, I wanted mine to be different and stand out, so I made sure that the girl on my cover didn't wear any clothing that ordinary rock singers did (Gothic clothing). I did want to show that she was a rock singer by making her wear a top with a skull. She also held a guitar as soft rock singers do play acoustics's within some of their songs like Nickleback, Breaking Benjamin and Thirty seconds to Mars.
I also faded out an image of a club night behind her. This was to give the magazine cover a better look, rather than have a plan white background which would really look that good.
I placed the name of the magazine in the top left hand side, this is so that the readers would instantly see the magazine name as everyone reads from left to right and begins at the top.
The headlines on the cover are all in the colours of the magazine name and the clothing of the girl, this helps it look part of the magazine.
In the top right is a yellow advertisement; this makes it stand out from its bright colour and help get people's attention.

Here is the draft for my double page spread. I aim not to use too many images in my spread, but I also want enough images to make it look like there isn't much reading involved in case my audience doesn't fancy reading too much.
I placed the magazine logo in the top left hand corner of the first page and the bottom left of the right. This is to remind the reader of which magazine owns this information and that when they start reading its the first thing they see, and it would be the last thing they will see when they finish.
In the bottom right of the right page I placed a website to where the readers can go and order tickets. It is in orange because it stands out from everything else on the page, meaning its important.
My double page spread will contain information on the new band/ singer and will explain how they came to be and how they got to where they are now.

Contents Draft.
I wanted to make the magazine look as if it were part of Ore, so I used the same colours within the logo in the contents of my draft. The title 'Contents' is in white with dark green borders over a black and white image of a party to reflect the logo.
On the left hand side I placed images of bands mentioned within the magazine with a sort slogan next to it. I placed them on the left hand side as viewers would read from left to right, so these main stories would catch their attention first. I also placed red boxes on the top left hand side of the pictures with a number to show the reader what page they can find the story on.
Front page Draft.
Here is the draft of the front cover of the design of my magazine. I have used images from the Internet to make it, however I will use my own photo's to make the real magazine.
In the top left hand corner it the name of my magazine. I chose green and white as the colours for the logo, mainly because as I looked at other magazines I noticed their logo's are mostly red and white, so I thought I would go with something else. Underneath it I mention the new rock/ soft rock band I come up with in yellow to make it seem more important compared to the other titles seen.
The main image will fill the whole front cover and I will use contrasting colours for the titles of the stories against the colour in the picture. The picture I used is of a male, but I plan to use a female on the front of my real one as girls are not seen very much on the front of rock magazines.
In the top right I have placed information on a rock band called 'Imagine Dragons'. I used the colour yellow around it to make it stand out from the rest in hope to catch the readers eye. I also placed a 'New Ablums' heading in the bottom right in order to make people wonder what new albums are out.
